The Killers will perform tomorrow (Oct. 3), Wednesday and Thursday on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the first band to do so on the show. The Killers will also appear in a comedy bit with Kimmel. As previously reported, the group's sophomore album, "Sam's Town," is due tomorrow via Island.
A fall North American tour begins with a Friday/Saturday stand at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre and runs through an Oct. 28 appearance at the Vegoose Festival in the Killers' Las Vegas hometown.
MTV has given the green light to a new sketch-comedy series from actor/artist Nick Cannon. "Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz" has been given an eight-episode order, with the half-hour show set to premiere in first-quarter 2007 as part of the network's "10 Spot" lineup.
The series will consist of topical sketches, impersonations, parodies and other comedic elements. It will feature Cannon, who also is the creator/executive producer, along with comedy/improv players Affion Crockett, Eliza Coupe, Leonard Robinson, Taran Killam and Katt Williams.
Cannon, who starred in the 2002 box office hit "Drumline," lends his voice to Sony's "Monster House" and next appears in the Robert F. Kennedy biopic "Bobby."
Jeremy Enigk will serve as the opening act for indie rock act Cursive's fall North American tour, which begins Oct. 31 in Tempe, Ariz., and will run through Nov. 26 in Dallas. Although he was backed by a full band at recent shows, Enigk will be joined only by percussionist Kannan Tupper for the Cursive dates. His new album, "World Waits," arrives Oct. 17 via his own Lewis Hollow Recordings label.
