Billboard Bits: T. Rex, Deep Dish, CDnow/Amazon

Groove Armada"Electric Warrior," T. Rex's breakthrough 1971 album, will be reissued Feb. 25 by Rhino in an expanded and remastered version. Released at the forefront of the glam era, the Tony Visconti-produced album features the classic rock radio favorites "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" and "Jeepster," as well as "Cosmic Dancer" and "Mambo Sun."

The album's original 11-track lineup adds six rarities -- "Hot Love," "King Of The Mountain Cometh," "Woodland Rock," "There Was A Time," and "Raw Ramp" -- and a previously unreleased acoustic version of the "Electric Warrior" cut "Planet Queen." Rounding out the disc is an interview about the album with late T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan that was previously available only on a promotional LP issued around the same time as the set.

Originally released by Reprise, the sixth T. Rex album, "Electric Warrior" peaked at No. 32 on Billboard's album chart, where it was listed for 34 weeks. "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Groove ArmadaElectronic duo Deep Dish will record the 25th edition of the "Global Underground" mix CD series Saturday (Dec. 7) at Toronto's Guvernment. The double-disc set is due in the spring via Global Underground and will be supported with a world tour to kick off at Miami's Winter Music Conference. Deep Dish previously assembled the "Moscow" installment of "Global Underground," which debuted in November 2001 at No. 13 on Billboard's Top Electronic Albums tally.

For the upcoming release, group members Dubfire and Sharam are assembling one disc apiece, as opposed to selecting the material in tandem. Both members will also create a limited-edition single disc loaded with their personal favorite dance and electronic music tracks.

Deep Dish won the 2001 Grammy for best remixed recording, non-classical for their take on Dido's international smash hit "Thank You."

Groove ArmadaCDnow has confirmed its multiyear outsourcing agreement with Amazon.com, which was first reported last month by Billboard Bulletin. Under the deal, CDnow customers will be able to buy CDs, DVDs, and videos through a CDnow-branded Amazon interface. Amazon.com will provide inventory, fulfillment, site content, and customer service.

Customers will also have access to Amazon features like "Super Saver Shipping" on orders over $25, editorial and customer reviews, personalization tools features and recommendations, and one-click ordering. Over the last year, Amazon has forged a series of similar outsourcing relationships with the likes of Borders.com and Virginmega.com.

CDnow remains a part of Bertelsmann's BeMusic unit, which is also home to BMG Music Service and the company's other record-club businesses. Amazon.com's Web site will continue to operate independently.
