Billboard Bits: Slipknot, John Cale, Jessi Colter

Comments

Slipknot's nine members will appear as unlockable characters in the upcoming video game "Infected," which will be released next month for PSP by Majesco Entertainment. The group has also contributed the tracks "Eyeless," "Everything Ends" and "Pulse of the Maggots" to the in-game soundtrack, which features other Roadrunner acts like Chimaira, Trivium, Ill Nino, the Agony Scene and Fear Factory.

The music will be rounded out by electronica tracks from Junkie XL and Pimp X. Sound effects and voice-overs will be provided by Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera via 3volution Studios, which he co-owns.

As previously reported, Slipknot will release a 23-track, double-disc live album, "9.0: Live," Nov. 1 via Roadrunner. The group will be on the road this fall through a Nov. 15 show in Milwaukee.

Astralwerks will on Oct. 18 release John Cale's
new album, "blackAcetate," which came out last month in the United Kingdom via EMI. The set finds Cale flanked by drummer Herb Graham Jr. and studio veteran Mickey Petralia (Beck, Ladytron) for tunes that are more rock-oriented than 2004's computer-generated "HoboSapiens."

The former Velvet Underground principal will play a handful of North American dates this fall: Oct. 27 in Los Angeles, Oct. 30 in Denver, Nov. 1 in Dallas, Nov. 2 in Austin, Texas, Nov. 4 in Conway, Ark., Nov. 6 in Norfolk, Va., Nov. 10 in Chicago and Nov. 12 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

For the first time since Waylon Jennings' 2002 death from diabetes complications, his widow, Jessi Colter, has made plans to perform with his longtime Waymore Blues band. The show will be held Oct. 28 at the Factory in Franklin, Tenn., and will raise funds for the American Diabetes Association's annual Jean Therapy event.

Among the Waymore members confirmed to appear are Robby Turner, Richie Albright, Rance Wasson, Barney Robertson, Carter Robertson, Kevin "Swine" Grantt, Charlie Rose, Steve Herrman and Jim Horn. Slide guitarist Jack Pearson will also sit in.

Other artists on the bill for the fundraiser are John Anderson, Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett, Jon Tiven, Marty Brown and Carters Cord.
