'Idol' Eyeing Shania as Plan B

While sources close to "American Idol" are telling TMZ that a deal with Jennifer Lopez is not dead, Shania Twain would reportedly be Fox's next choice to join the judges' table. The country star served as a guest judge and mentor on the show last season. Although Lopez has been viewed as the front-runner to replace Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres on the show, negotiations with the pop singer were rumored to have fallen apart on Wednesday due to her "demands." Fantasia Threatened with Lawsuit for Affair

After leaving the hospital Wednesday night (Aug. 11) following a medication overdose, Fantasia Barrino is being threatened with a lawsuit for breaking up the marriage of Antwaun and Paula Cook. Barrino's lawyer told People that Paula Cook is suing the singer for alienation of affection and criminal conversation due to Barrino's 11-month affair with her husband. The merit of such a lawsuit depends on when the couple separated, which is still unclear. ( People)

Bono's Daughter Stars With Sean Penn In Rock Movie

Bono's daughter, Eve Hewson, is set to star alongside Sean Penn in "This Must Be the Place," a new film chronicling a rock star pursuing his father's Nazi tormentor, according to NME. In the Paolo Sorrentino-directed film, Hewson plays a teenage goth/punk fan who befriends Penn's character. Hewson previously appeared in 2008 indie release "The 27 Club." ( NME)

Hours after being released from jail yesterday (Aug. 12), DMX was pulled over by Los Angeles police in a rented Mercedes-Benz, according to TMZ. The rapper was stopped for a minor traffic violation but did not have a valid driver's license. DMX, who finished serving an 18-day stint in jail yesterday following a reckless driving conviction in 2002, was only issued a citation for the offense. ( TMZ)

Johnny Mathis Preps Country-Inspired Album

Johnny Mathis will release "Let It Be Me: Mathis In Nashville" on September 21 via Columbia Records. The album features collaborations with Lane Brody and Alison Krauss, as well as production by Fred Molsetlin.
