My Morning Jacket, Ben Folds and Gov't Mule are among the acts confirmed to play Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring festival. Set for April 21-22 on the Nashville institution's Alumni Lawn, the annual event is open to the public and students.
Others confirmed to perform are Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, Cary Brothers, B Young, Blue Merle, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Hopsing Project, Hot Buttered Rum, Old Union and Zac Brown Band, with additions to the bill expected.
Advance tickets -- $25 single day or $40 weekend pass -- will go on sale March 1 via Ticketmaster and several local outlets, including the Sarratt Box Office on the Vanderbilt campus. For more information, visit the festival's Web site.
Rapper Juvenile will give his fans access to custom ringtones on his upcoming album, "Reality Check." Due March 7, the UTP/Atlantic release will include ID Interactive's UrTone player, which will give users the ability to create and purchase personalized ringtones.
"Juvenile has always been an innovator," says Atlantic VP of marketing James Lopez. "By giving his fans the ability to create their own unique ringtones, [he] has taken the connection between artist and audience to an exciting new place." "Reality Check" features guest appearances by the likes of Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Eightball and Bun B, and, as previously reported, Ludacris, Fat Joe, Brian McKnight and Trey Songz.
In the midst of his ongoing North American tour, country singer/songwriter/actor Dwight Yoakam is planning to host the Lil' Ole' Oscar Hayride March 3 at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre. In addition to Yoakam, who stars opposite Tommy Lee Jones in the recent film "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada," the show will also include sets by Waylon Payne, who plays Jerry Lee Lewis in the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line," and the Sin City All Stars.
Yoakam's tour in support of last year's "Blame the Vain" (New West) plays Prince George, British Columbia tonight (Feb. 17) and includes dates that extend into September. The disc, which peaked at No. 54 on The Billboard 200 and No. 8 on the Top County Albums chart, has sold 123,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
