Phil Collins Retiring from Music?

Former Genesis drummer and solo star Phil Collins has indicated that he is calling it quits from music. The 60-year-old has hearing problems and nerve damage in his hands, and says in an interview, "I don't think anyone's going to miss me… I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think, 'I can't be in the same business as this.'" Collins has expressed this disinterest in making new music before: in October, he told Billboard.com, "I'm not anticipating doing anything else. If I do write songs...I don't know about putting them out on an album or anything like that. I don't really have the desire to do that now." ( The Telegraph)

'Spider-Man' Musical Slapped with New Violations

The production company behind Broadway's troubled "Spider-Man" musical has been slapped with three violations of workplace safety standards by federal regulators. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued the citations Friday for four separate incidents late last year that resulted in injuries to the cast. The three citations carry $12,600 in proposed fines - a tiny percentage of the $65 million musical's weekly costs. ( AP)

Akon Suing Former Booking Agent

Akon has reportedly filed a lawsuit against American Talent Agency, his former booking agent that he fired in September, based on claims that they are forging documentation to approve unauthorized shows. ATA has responded to the claims in a statement that says, "Akon's accusations of failure to pay earned performance fees and bookings of unapproved appearances and performances are untrue." DJ Quik Announces 'Book of David' Solo Album

Six years after his last solo studio album, Compton rapper DJ Quik makes his return with "The Book of David," which hits stores April 20. The set is produced by Quik and features guest appearances from Bun B, Ice Cube, Kurupt and many others. Lead single "Luv of My Life," featuring Gift Reynolds, has already been released.

Pete Seeger Voices Support for Wisconsin Unions

Folk music legend Pete Seeger says he is pulling for the demonstrators in Wisconsin who want to stop a bill eliminating most collective bargaining rights from public workers. Seeger, who has been singing about union rights since the 1940s, says, "We may end up thanking him." ( AP)
