Guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his album "Surfing With the Alien" by performing a handful of club and theater dates in August. The concerts will coincide with an expanded reissue of the album, due Aug. 7 via Legacy Recordings/Epic.

Satriani will play four shows, starting Aug. 15 at the Blender Theatre at Gramercy in New York. From there, he will head to Chicago for a performance at the House of Blues (Aug. 16), before a gig at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles (Aug. 17). The stint will conclude the following day with an intimate concert at Hyde Street Studio in San Francisco, where "Surfing With the Alien" was recorded in 1987.

Tickets go on sale Sunday (July 15), exclusively through Satriani's
Web site.

Singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur has opened his own art gallery in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn, N.Y., dubbed the Museum of Modern Arthur (MOMAR). Arthur has long designed his own album packaging and even painted on stage during his live shows; the gallery plans to display his own work plus that of other artists.

In addition, Arthur is eyeing an early 2008 release for his next solo album, which will follow the two separate albums he has issued in the past year. For now, the lone dates on his schedule are a Sept. 7 show at the new Music Hall in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and a Sept. 13 set at the Austin City Limits Festival.
