Billboard Bits: Neil Young, Bowling For Soup, Rob Swift

Following U2's recent weeklong takeover of "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," Neil Young has signed on to appear four nights in a row (Nov. 1-4) on the NBC talk show. Young will head to New York to tape the shows immediately after the 19th Bridge School Benefit concerts in Mountain View, Calif., at which he will perform with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

The artist's latest Reprise album, "Prairie Wind," debuted earlier this month at No. 11 on The Billboard 200. A previously announced documentary recently shot by director Jonathan Demme during two shows in Nashville is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters in February.

Pop/rock act Bowling For Soup, which struck gold with its last album, "A Hangover You Don't Deserve," turns to the big and little screens for the inspiration for its Nov. 15 Jive release, "Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies!"

The set includes songs the group recorded for TV shows and films, such as a cover of Britney Spears' "... Baby One More Time" for "Freaky Friday" and "Here We Go" from "Scooby-Doo 2"). The project also contains covers of some of the band's favorite TV themes, among them the theme to "Gilligan's Island" and "Five O'Clock World" from "The Drew Carey Show."

Bowling For Soup is in the midst of a U.K. tour that visits Petersborough tonight (Oct. 14).

After five years out of print, turntablist Rob Swift's 1997 debut "Soulful Fruit" will be reissued Nov. 15 via Fat Beats. The album remains a landmark of the turntable culture that brought the X-Ecutioners, Q-Bert and Z-Trip to mainstream prominence. It is perhaps best known for the track "Rob Swift Versus Rahzel," which pits the DJ against the former Roots beatboxer for a live showdown.

Swift is expected to tour this fall but dates have yet to be announced.
