MGMT Denies Being Pelted with Urine

After claims that MGMT drummer Will Berman was hit with a glass full of urine at the band's Manchester, England show last night (Sept. 27) were released earlier today, singer-guitarist Andrew VanWyngarden has denied the reports. "A celebratory cup of hearty Manchester ale, NOT URINE, was hurled into the air in the direction of the stage," VanWyngarden clarified in an e-mail. Berman reportedly stormed off the stage after the incident, but VanWyngarden said that the drummer "left the stage to dry off." (Pitchfork)

President Obama Shows Off His iPod, Talks Rap Music

President Obama discusses the eclectic music mix on his iPod -- and his growing knowledge of rap music -- in the latest cover story of Rolling Stone, which hits newsstands Friday. "My iPod now has about 2,000 songs… there's still a lot of Stevie Wonder, a lot of Bob Dylan, a lot of Rolling Stones, a lot of R&B, a lot of Miles Davis and John Coltrane," says Obama. The President says that, while his hip-hop palate used to be dominated by Jay-Z, "now I've got a little Nas and a little Lil Wayne and some other stuff, but I would not claim to be an expert." Soundgarden-'Guitar Hero' Bundle Earns Platinum Status

Soundgarden's decision to bundle its "Telephantasm" greatest hits album with 1 million copies of the new "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" videogame has garnered it platinum record status by the RIAA, thanks to new rules created as a result of the partnership. The bundle is the first time a new album has been bundled with a videogame. (Billboard.biz)

Paul Wall Allegedly Beats Fan With Microphone

Rapper Paul Wall allegedly beat a fan with a microphone during a concert in San Antonio, Tex. on Sunday night (Sept. 26). The xx's Jamie Smith Readies Solo Single

Jamie Smith, the xx's (non-singing) DJ/producer, told London radio station Xfm today that he is set to release a solo single, titled "Far Nearer." "It's a tune I made on one of our short breaks from touring and I was eager to make some new music," said Smith during the radio interview. "I got a steel pan and made this track and it is coming out on Numbers Records in about a month or so." (Pitchfork)
