M.I.A. To Judge Amateur Films for Vimeo

 

M.I.A. has signed on as a judge for the inaugural Vimeo Festival & Awards, which will launch in New York this October. The controversial singer will be judging amateur films alongside David Lynch, Ronald Coppola and Rian Johnson. (Vimeo.com)

 

OZZFest Offering 'Unholy' Wedding Packages

 

OZZFest will offer "Unholy Matrimony Packages" to couples looking to tie the knot at the metal festival during its August 14-24 U.S. run. The festival, which features Ozzy Osbourne and Mötley Crüe this year, is offering packages that include 10 general admission tickets, a wedding ceremony courtesy of OZZFest MC Big Dave, and an OZZFest cake and champagne toast. Package options are still available at festival stops in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Boston.

 

LCD Soundsystem To Tour with Hot Chip

 

LCD Soundsystem have announced a tour with their electro-dance brethren and DFA label mates Hot Chip. The groups have scheduled dates in Japan and the U.K., and while only one U.S. date has been revealed (Oct. 22 at The Rave in Milwaukee, WI), more are soon to follow. (Spinner)

 

Katy Perry Wants Morrissey At Wedding

 

In an interview with U.K. tabloid The Sun, Katy Perry expressed interest in having Morrissey sing at her wedding to Russell Brand, which will reportedly be in India this September. According to Spin.com, Perry said she would "love" to have the legendary singer make an appearance, but said that the Moz wasn't too supportive of the idea while chatting with the pop star over tea. Daft Punk's "Tron" Soundtrack Still Leak-Proof


Daft Punk's highly anticipated soundtrack to "Tron Legacy" was allegedly streaming on YouTube user alexdaft26's channel earlier today. However, Pitchfork reports that a representative for Daft Punk has deemed the leaked audio as fake. "Tron Legacy" will be released December 17, with Daft Punk's soundtrack expected to be released in November. (Pitchfork)

 

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings Announce Fall Dates


Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings will kick off a fall U.S. tour at Colorado's Jazz Aspen Snomass Festival on Sept. 4. The veteran soul group has scattered shows lined up in August as well, including performances at the Newport Folk Festival and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Paste)
