Billboard Bits: LL Cool J, Charlatans U.K., Major League Baseball

Rapper LL Cool J will enjoy his first starring role in the film "Crazy School," about a teacher who lands a job educating the teens at a metropolitan hospital, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be released by Warner Bros., for whom LL Cool J has appeared in the films "Any Given Sunday" and "Deep Blue Sea."

Venerable Brit-popsters the Charlatans U.K. will venture across the Atlantic with fellow countrymen Stereophonics for a 12-date U.S. tour, set to kick off March 27 in Los Angeles and conclude April 12 in Orlando, Fla. The Charlatans U.K. will be supporting their latest MCA album "Us And Us Only," while Stereophonics will be touring on the strength of their sophomore V2 set, "Performance & Cocktails."

Luckily, the Major League Baseball players featured on the forthcoming compilation album "Big League Rocks" aren't quitting their day jobs just yet. The 14-track album, due out March 14 on EMI Music, features baseball-themed songs and performances from players such as Ozzie Smith, Sandy Alomar Jr., Jose Lima, and New York Yankees Paul O'Neill and Bernie Williams, who contributes the jazz instrumental "Eye Of The Storm."

Proceeds from the album will benefit the Major League Baseball Players Trust For Children. No word on whether any proceeds will go toward Ozzie Smith's singing lessons.
