Mexican singer Lucero, also a favorite of Mexican television, will host the 2006 Latin Grammy Awards alongside Puerto Rican salsa star Victor Manuelle. Confirmed to perform are regional Mexican band Conjunto Primavera, rock band Mana, singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian, Thalia and reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel. The Latin Grammys will take place Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and will air live on the Univision network.
Indie rock act Wolf Parade has tentative plans to head back to the studio this winter to start work on the follow-up to its 2005 Sub Pop debut, "Apologies to the Queen Mary." The set reached No. 12 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and has sold 67,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"We have a place to record them in Montreal. We're coming off this summer, and we're going to get to Iceland and back, then sit back and take a look at what were doing and see if we want to be touring next year," group member Spencer Krug tells Billboard.com.
As previously reported, Krug is featured on the collaborative project Swan Lake, whose debut, "Beast Moans," will arrive Nov. 21 via Jagjaguwar.
American stadium rockers Bon Jovi and soul legend James Brown will be inducted into the U.K. Music Hall of Fame on Nov. 14. Both acts are expected to perform at the ceremony, which will be held for the second successive year at London's Alexandra Palace.
Other inductees already named for this year's event are Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, Led Zeppelin and Rod Stewart. These artists will join Beatles producer Sir George Martin, who this year will be lauded with honorary membership in recognition of his exceptional contribution to British music.
