Billboard Bits: Keane, The Honorary Title, Ambulance Ltd.

Keane has entered into an agreement that will allow recordings from its upcoming tour to be released on CD just minutes after the gig has concluded. The CDs will be limited to 1,000 units each night. Prices were not disclosed.

The initiative, proclaimed as the first such partnership in Britain, involves Keane's label Island Records, and Concert Live in partnership with Tunetribe.com. Keane kicks off an 8-date U.K. tour Tuesday (Oct. 17) at the Hull Arena. Since its release in June, the trio's latest album, "Under the Iron Sea," has gone double platinum in Britain (600,000 units) and has reached IFPI Platinum Europe status, for pan-European shipments of more than 1 million units.

Rock act the Honorary Title will release its next album in February as the first in a joint venture with Doghouse Records and Warner Bros. The-as-yet-untitled set was produced by Rob Schnapf but will also feature two songs with in-demand songwriter/producer Butch Walker.

The album is the follow-up to 2004's "Anything Else But the Truth," which has sold 37,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Ambulance Ltd. frontman Marcus Congleton has penned three songs for use by DKNY Jeans on a new non-commerce
Web site. The tracks are available as free MP3 downloads, and a couple of Ambulance Ltd. videos can be streamed. The site also features an interview with Congleton and a profile of the band.

Congleton recently moved from New York to Los Angeles and has tapped John Cale to produce the next Ambulance Ltd. album. The artist tells Billboard the set is "more like a solo project" since "the guys from the last album are not on this one." He also says it will not be as guitar-heavy or dreamy as past Ambulance Ltd. projects.
