Scotty McCreery To Perform at World Series
Current "American Idol" champ Scotty McCreery will perform the National Anthem before Game One of the MLB World Series on Oct. 19. "I have had two loves in life -- music and baseball," McCreery says in a statement. "The World Series is the biggest event in baseball, so to be there and be able to sing the National Anthem is like putting my two greatest loves together."

Garbage Returning with New Album in 2012
After a six-year hiatus, alternative rock group Garbage has confirmed a new album set for release in spring 2012. The album is yet to be titled but will be the band's first EP since "Bleed Like Me" hit stores in 2005. "We are making a record filled with the music we love to hear," Garbage said in a post on Facebook. "The new songs have been inspired more by what we haven't been hearing rather than by what we have."

John Rich Welcomes Baby Boy
Country crooner John Rich of Big & Rich has welcomed a son, Colt Daniel, born Thursday Sept. 29. He tweeted: "He's a real 'Son of a Gun!'" and that he is "VERY Proud!" This is John and Joan Rich's second son, as Colt joins big brother Cash. ( People)

Chrissie Hynde Closes Vegetarian Restaurant
Chrissie Hynde (HYND') is citing the struggling economy in the closing of her vegetarian restaurant in her hometown of Akron, Ohio. The Pretenders front woman posted a notice Sunday on the VegiTerranean restaurant website. She says that she and the staff had tried to keep the restaurant open but that the economic climate made it impossible. She opened the downtown eatery four years ago. ( Associated Press)
