Billboard Bits serves up the best bite-sized nuggets of music news and gossip every afternoon.

Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is pulling out all the stops for his son Justin's super sweet 16th birthday party this weekend. According to Page 6,  performers and guests will include Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Lil' Kim, boxer Floyd Mayweather and possibly Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Diddy himself will play with his band, and the whole thing is being filmed, naturally, by MTV.

E Street Band drummer and soon-to-be former Conan O'Brien sideman Max Weinberg is doing his part to stick it to NBC as the network ices his boss' "Tonight Show" run. According to the Smoking Gun, Weinberg had the foresight to copyright his original music for the show -- including such notable tunes as the Masturbating bear and Pimbot theme songs, thus keeping those bits of "intellectual property" out of the network's paws.

---
R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass, who died last week at the age of 59, will be honored at an all-star memorial in Philadelphia this weekend. An official public viewing will take place at the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, 2800 West Cheltenham Ave., in Philadelphia on Friday from Noon to 8:00 p.m. A private viewing and memorial will be held on Saturday.

---
The long-rumored Spice Girls musical is headed for the stage, according to an AP report. Tentatively titled "Viva Forever," the as-yet-unscheduled production is being co-produced by "American Idol" creator and Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller.

---
Celebrated indie rock band the Hold Steady is searching for a new keyboard player, following the departure of mustachioed Franz Nicolay after a five year stint with the group. "I told the band I'd be leaving in early September, played my last show with them in Minneapolis around Thanksgiving, and dotted the t's and crossed the i's this week," Nicolay posted on his website. "Five years seemed like a nice round number."
