"Valleys of Neptune" is the first song off the new collection of previously unreleased Hendix studio recordings coming this spring. The single also kicks off a year-long celebration of the late guitar hero's life and career as the 40th anniversary of his death this fall.

A policeman was injured and 120 people arrested during a riot at a massive Metallica concert in Santiago, Chile. According to a report in the Latin America Herald Tribune, most of the arrests took place when hundreds of fans without tickets tried to force their way into Santiago's Club Hipico horse-racing grounds for Tuesday night's concert.

Up-and-coming garage rock revivalists the Soft Pack will celebrate the release of its self-titled Kemado debut with a one day, 10-concert marathon around Los Angeles on Saturday (Jan. 30). According to LAist, the band formerly known as the Muslims is teaming with FYF Fest and riding in a veggie-oil fueled 1992 Blue Bird school bus, inviting fans to follow along all day or hit up spots wherever they can.

The Pouges lead singer Shane MacGowan has recruited some of his famous friends -- including Nick Cave, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Johnny Depp -- for a Haitian relief benefit single. According to The Guardian, MacGowan is in a London studio to record a version of the Screamin' Jay Hawkins classic "I Put A Spell On You." Details about the release will be forthcoming.

Depeche Mode has long had a legion of devoted followers, and a new documentary profiles obsessed fans of the synth pop legends around the world. According to the L.A. Weekly, "The Posters Came from the Walls" (a loose translation from an '80s German concert review) follows fans from such far-reaching locales as Bucharest, Berlin and Tehran as they overcome obstacles like poverty, politics, and fear of ass-whooping for wearing eyeliner to follow their favorite band.
