Lady Gaga Dabbles in Cocaine, Not Sex
In the cover story for Vanity Fair's September issue, Lady Gaga admits that she occasionally does cocaine. The singer says that she uses the drug "a couple of times a year" but doesn't condone drug use to her fans because it has "led to disaster" for her in the past. Gaga also tells her interviewer that she avoids having sex for fear of losing her creative drive. "I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they're going to take my creativity from me through my vagina," she explains. ( UsMagazine, Vanity Fair)
T.I., DJ Jazzy Jeff Marry Longtime Ladies
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz weren't the only music stars who tied the knot this weekend: rapper T.I. wed his longtime girlfriend Tameka "Tiny" Cottle in Miami on Saturday (July 31). After the wedding, the pair celebrated their nuptials in two more cities, Atlanta and Las Vegas. Philly rap legend DJ Jazzy Jeff (real name: Jeffrey Arnold Townes) also married his fiance, Lynette Jackson, in Jamaica on Saturday, tweeting afterwards, "Yeah to Mr n Mrs Townes." ( MTV, RapRadar)
U2 Working on New Track in Tour Rehearsals
U2 is apparently hammering out a new song while rehearsing for the next leg of their 360° tour, which resumes Friday in Torino, Italy. Fans camping outside of the Olympic Hall Sports Stadium have been posting audio of the new track as well as hearing snippets of older tracks like "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" and "Miss Sarajevo," which the band hasn't played in years. After touring Europe through October 8, U2 returns to the U.S. on May 21, 2011. (RollingStone)
Early Graves Singer Killed in Car Crash
Mahk Daniels, singer for the metal band Early Graves, was killed in a car accident last night (Aug. 1) as his band was on the way to a show in Reno, Nev. According to The Gauntlet, the driver of the group's van fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to roll off the side of the freeway. Two others were injured in the accident. ( The Gauntlet)
Grinderman Reveal North American Dates
Grinderman, the four-piece side project of Nick Cave, has announced North American tour dates in support of its new album, "Grinderman 2," set for release Sept. 14 on Anti-. The trek kicks off Nov. 11 in Toronto and will run through Dec. 1.
Brian Eno To Release New Disc On Warp
Legendary producer Brian Eno is set to release a new album on Warp Records, due later this year. Exclaim reports that guitarist Leo Abrahams and composer-producer Jon Hopkins will be involved with the project. ( Exclaim)
