Billboard Bits: G. Love, Hanna-McEuen, Siren Festival

LoveSinger/songwriter G. Love has reworked a Coca-Cola ad jingle for a new television spot for the Coca-Cola Zero soft drink. The ad revives the "I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony" melody to fit with the new beverage's "Everybody Chill" tagline.

While the company's 1971 "Hilltop" ad featured a diverse cast singing the song on a hill in Italy, the G. Love version, "Chilltop," finds the artist surrounded by friends on a rooftop in his native Philadelphia.

Next month, G. Love and his band Special Sauce will open several shows for the Dave Matthews Band and play a handful of club dates en route to a July 24 set at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. The group was originally slated to take part in the summer's ill-fated Zooma tour, but will instead use the time to record music for a new album.

DuoThe self-titled debut album by
Hanna-McEuen has been scheduled for an Aug. 16 release via DreamWorks. The set was co-produced by the country duo, which play electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, banjo, dobro and mandolin.

Cousins Jaime Hanna and Jonathan McEuen, the sons of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band members Jeff Hanna and John McEuen, wrote or co-wrote every song on the disc, which includes such titles as "Ocean," "End of Me," "Tell Me" and lead single "Something Like a Broken Heart." That track debuted in March on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at No. 38.

The group will perform in San Diego tonight (June 27) and has dates scheduled into October.

SaulSaul Williams, Ambulance Ltd., Morningwood, Detachment Kit, Diamond Nights, Nine Black Alps and Be Your Own Pet have joined the bill for the Village Voice's Siren Music Festival.

They join
previously confirmed acts Spoon, Mates Of State, the Dears, Brendan Benson, Dungen, VHS Or Beta and the Q and Not U for the free show, which will be held July 16 at New York's Coney Island.
