Billboard Bits: Eminem, Aguilera, Clarke

NellyThe soundtrack to Eminem's film debut, "8 Mile," -- which, as previously reported, is due Oct. 29 from Shady/Interscope Records -- will feature a limited-edition CD sampler featuring tracks from artists signed to Eminem's label Shady Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath imprint.

Tracks by Shady's Obie Trice, Shady/Aftermath's 50 Cent, and Aftermath roster members Joe Beast, Brooklyn, and Shaunta will be accompanied by an as-yet-unnamed, previously unreleased Eminem song.

The sampler should serve as extra enticement for Eminem fans to purchase the "8 Mile" soundtrack, which features exclusive songs from Jay-Z, Rakim, Xzibit, Gang Starr, and Nas as well as three new Eminem tracks. Among them is "Lose Yourself," which sits at No. 9 in its third week on the Billboard Hot 100. The Universal Pictures film, directed by Curtis Hanson ("Wonder Boys," "L.A. Confidential") and also starring Kim Basinger, Mekhi Phifer, and Brittany Murphy, arrives Nov. 8 in U.S. theaters.

NellyChristina Aguilera has joined the list of performers for the 2002 edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards, Billboard Bulletin reports. She joins previously announced performers Coldplay, Enrique Iglesias, Pink, Robbie Williams, and Wyclef Jean for the Nov. 14 event to be hosted by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona

Kylie Minogue, Eminem, Pink, Coldplay, Shakira, and Iglesias each notched four nominations for the ninth annual awards. Fans can vote for winners through the MTVEurope.com Web site, although the award for best video will be chosen by MTV Europe employees.

NellyThe third annual Stanley Clarke Scholarship Benefit Concert will feature performances by Sheila E, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, drummer Stewart Copeland (the Police/Oysterhead), and Black Eyed Peas. Billed as Stanley Clarke & Friends, the Oct. 24 event in the main auditorium of Los Angeles' Musicians Institute will be hosted by actor/comedian Sinbad and will also feature the revered guitarist and his band.

Tickets are priced at $50, with proceeds benefiting specially selected students in financial need who attend the prestigious school. They can be purchased online via TicketWeb or by calling 866-468-3399. Clarke's official Web site also offers the opportunity to make a donation to the fund with the purchase of a signed, limited-edition lithograph, as well as information on applying for the scholarship.
