Billboard Bits: Dylan/Springsteen, Wallflowers, USO

Bruce SpringsteenBob Dylan was a surprise guest at Saturday's final show on Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's world tour. The final of three shows at New York's Shea Stadium saw Dylan perform "Highway 61" backed by the group. The show also welcomed Willie Nile, Gary "U.S." Bonds and Garland Jeffries.

"The past four or five years have been some of the most fun and exciting of my life," Springsteen said at the end of the 30-song show. "Thanks for sharing them with us."

The tour kicked off Aug. 7, 2002, in East Rutherford, N.J.'s Continental Airlines Arena and included 120 shows in arenas and stadiums across the U.S., Europe, Canada and Australia.

The WallflowersWallflowers keyboardist Rami Jaffee will join a trip to Nepal where he will help to distribute basic medical supplies to clinics, refugee camps and children's hospitals. Jaffee will be one of eight taking part in the Medicines Global humanitarian excursion. The non-profit organization encourages travelers to give back to the countries they visit.

"Getting Medicines Global's message out to travelers will put the power to potentially save hundreds of thousands of lives into everyone's hands," Jaffee says in a statement. "This November we will work to help the people in Nepal, but the hope is that more travelers develop a habit of giving back to the regions they visit, making an unimaginable impact over time."
