Billboard Bits: Dual Play, Tamyra Gray, Holger Czukay

MarkThe PlayStation 2-sponsored Dual Play tour is returning for a fourth edition with DJs Mark Farina, Donald Glaude and Scarlett Etienne. The trek will begin Friday (April 9) in Chicago and run through June 18 in San Francisco. In addition, free shows are scheduled for May 28 and May 30 at the House of Blues in Chicago and Los Angeles, respectively.

In a tour first, Farina will be supported by local DJs on the initial leg of dates, which wrap April 24 in Las Vegas. Glaude and Etienne take over for the second leg, beginning May 7 in Dallas. As usual, images from a host of PlayStation 2 games will be projected in the venues while the music plays, including such titles as "Final Fantasy XI" and "SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs."

As previously reported, Farina and Glaude are both confirmed to appear at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held May 1-2 in Indio, Calif.

GrayFormer "American Idol" finalist Tamyra Gray will announce this week that she has signed to a new record label, according to her spokesperson. Gray was signed to J Records after her stint on the first season of the Fox competition, but parted ways with the company without releasing an album. Gray's debut, "The Dreamer," is set for an early June release. Her spokesperson and management company, 19 Entertainment, had no further comment on details of the deal.

Meanwhile, Gray will be returning to "Idol" Wednesday (April 7) for a guest appearance to perform the ballad "Raindrops Will Fall" from her album. Gray will also make an April 15 guest appearance on the Fox drama "Tru Calling." She will play an actress who, while doing research for a movie role, befriends the series' title character. This marks the second acting stint on a Fox drama series for Gray: last year she appeared on multiple episodes of "Boston Public."

In related news, tonight's episode of "American Idol" will feature recent footage of Sir Elton John rehearsing with the current season's contestants. The episode will find the contestants performing songs made famous by John.

HolgerCan principal Holger Czukay is planning a rare North American tour next month. The artist will hit the road beginning May 4 in Washington, D.C., and wrap things up May 18 in Los Angeles. The shows are expected to find the lovably eccentric Czukay playing guitar, keyboards, French horn and DJing, as well as performing material from throughout Can's career.

Czukay's frequent collaborator U-She will not be joining him on the road, "as she became too weak after a serious illness," according to the artist's
official Web site. "But that won't stop me acting in form of a 'DJ' and a musician simultaneously presenting known and unknown sources in rapid changes."

Can's status as one of the most influential rock acts of the past three decades was cemented with the December release of "CAN DVD" (Mute), which featured a documentary and a host of live performances. Czukay is working on his own DVD, which will sport live footage and video clips.

Here are Holger Czukay's tour dates:

May 4: Washington, D.C. (Black Cat)
May 5: Philadelphia (Theater of the Living Arts)
May 6: Baltimore (Ottobar)
May 8: New York (Knitting Factory)
May 10: Boston (Paradise)
May 13: Cleveland (venue TBA)
May 14: Detroit (Magic Stick)
May 15: Chicago (Subterranean)
May 17: San Francisco (Great American Music Hall)
May 18: Los Angeles (Knitting Factory)
