Billboard Bits: Blue Rodeo, TMBG, Jeff Klein

Blue RodeoBlue Rodeo has been added to the massive Rolling Stones & Friends concert July 30 in Toronto. One day prior to the show, the Canadian rock act will release its next studio album, "Palace of Gold," via Rounder Records in the U.S.

As previously reported, the July 30 concert in Toronto's Downview Park is designed to help the city's sagging tourism and hospitality sectors after the stigma from SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). The daylong event will also feature sets by AC/DC, Rush, Flaming Lips, Justin Timberlake, Isley Brothers, the Guess Who and Kathleen Edwards, among others. As many as 500,000 are expected to attend.

TMBG"Clap Your Hands," a song from They Might Be Giants' 2002 children's album "No!" (Idlewild/Rounder), will be the soundtrack to an upcoming television ad for clothing retailer GapKids. Earlier this week the company confirmed that Madonna would appearing in ads for the Gap.

The band has a handful of dates remaining on its July tour, which stops in Albany, N.Y., tonight (July 18).
As previously reported, the band will also take part in jam band moe.'s moe.down festival Aug. 31 in Turin, N.Y.

Here are TMBG's upcoming tour dates:

July 18: Albany, N.Y. (The Egg)
July 19: Greenfield, Mass. (Green River Festival)
July 20: Philadelphia (Penn's Landing)
July 23: Salt Lake City, Utah (Red Butte Garden)
July 26: Washington, D.C. (Live On Penn)
Aug. 31: Turin, N.Y. (Snow Ridge Ski Area - moe.down)

Jeff KleinNoted Austin-based singer/songwriter Jeff Klein is finishing up a month-long residency at New York's Living Room. Klein has played three consecutive Tuesdays at the club, which gave rise to Norah Jones. He plays his final gig there July 22, capping his stay in the Big Apple with a show July 31 at CB's Gallery.

Klein's forthcoming set, "Everybody Loves a Winner," produced by acclaimed singer/songwriter Matthew Ryan, is to be released Sept. 23 on One Little Indian Records. Patty Griffin adds guest vocals to the title track.
