Former 'Making The Band' contestant Donnie Klang has announced his split from Bad Boy Entertainment exclusively to Billboard. The R&B singer released one solo album on the label in 2008 and is now working on singles through Eight72 Entertainment, an independent label. Klang said he learned a lot about "the business side of things, not just music," from Bad Boy and its CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs, but added that, "it's tough being on a label where the president of the label is also an artist."

Musician and producer Daniel Lanois has cancelled all summer concert appearances to recuperate from a serious motorcycle accident. Lanois, who has won numerous Grammy Awards, was hospitalized on Saturday night in Los Angeles. he is expected to make a full recovery.

"Jive Records told me my album is a piece of art, and they didn't know what to do with it," he said. "So I moved it over to Def Jam. And now Jive is trying to block Dré from being on my record.
