Billboard Bits: Beck, (+44), Musiq Soulchild

Comments

Beck will unveil a deluxe version of his recent album "The Information" on Feb. 27 via Interscope. The triple-disc set will include the original album with bonus material, a remix collection and an expanded DVD.

"Inside Out," "Oh Mania" and "This Girl That I Know," previously only available on import versions of the project, have been added to the first disc. The remix compilation features three new versions of "Cellphone's Dead," two of "Nausea" and one of "Dark Star" by Jamie Lidell, Ellen Allien, Bumblebeez, TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, the Chap and Ricardo Villalobos.

The DVD will retain all of the artists' homemade music videos, plus Patrick Daughters' clip for "Nausea" and Michel Gondry's for "Cellphones Dead." All four of the collectible sticker sheets, which were distributed as the album art, will be included.

According to a spokesperson, Beck has no plans to tour the U.S. at present, though he is scheduled to perform in Japan in April.

(+44) drummer Travis Barker has been forced to leave the band's in-progress European tour to treat an unhealed
broken arm. The shows will continue through Feb. 9 in Southampton, England, with a replacement drummer to be announced.

Barker hurt himself in September during a video shoot, forcing (+44) to postpone a U.S. tour by almost a month. He wrote on his MySpace.com page that he'd actually made the injury worse by unknowingly playing shows with the injury for three weeks.

"The band supports his decision to leave the tour and allow his injury to heal," reads a statement from Interscope. "Travis's health is of the utmost importance right now."

Soul singer Musiq Soulchild, who was formerly signed to Def Soul, has inked with Atlantic for the March 13 release of "LUVANMUSIQ." First single "Buddy" is already No. 22 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In conjunction, Soulchild has teamed with Courvoisier for a 10-city tour that begins March 8 in Chicago.

"LUVANMUSIQ" is the follow-up to 2003's "Soulstar," which debuted at No. 13 on The Billboard 200. Soulchild can also be heard on the upcoming Earth, Wind & Fire tribute album, "
Interpretations," due March 27 via the newly relaunched Stax Records.
