Alicia Keys' Charity to Honor George Harrison
Alicia Keys' charity will pay tribute to late Beatle guitarist George Harrison with a star-studded concert in New York City next month. Her charity, called Keep a Child Alive, will honor Harrison at its annual Black Ball event for his "philanthropic contributions to India." The charity announced Tuesday (Oct. 11) that Keys will perform alongside Usher, Norah Jones and will.i.am at the Nov. 3 show at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom. (Associated Press)

New York Gets Its Own Pitchfork Fest
Online music magazine Pitchfork Media, known for its comprehensive coverage of independent music, will introduce a New York City counterpart. Unlike its annual Chicago fest, this event will include presentations from visual artists and game designers around the city, in addition to 50-75 bands. Though no dates have been announced, the festival is planned to last for four days. (New York Times)

Pulp's Jarvis Cocker Joins Faber & Faber As Book Editor
Best known for fronting '90s Britpop favorites Pulp, Jarvis Cocker accepted an editorial position with the esteemed publisher Faber & Faber. Next week, Faber will release "Mothers, Brothers, Lovers," annotated collection of Cocker's lyrics. He'll be working closely with editor Lee Brackstone, who last year tried to acquire the rights to Morrissey's rumored memoirs via an open letter. (The Guardian)

More Artists Join Other Voices NYC Lineup
In addition to Laurie Anderson, The National's Bryce and Aaron Dessner, the Swell Season's Glen Hansard and many more, Martha Wainwright, actor Gabriel Byrne and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon join the Other Voices NYC lineup. The two-day mini-fest -- running Oct. 27-28 at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge, celebrates Irish culture, both in the form of music and literature. More info and tickets sales at othervoicesnyc.com.
