Peter Murphy returns to the solo album ranks for the first time in seven years with the release of the appropriately titled "Ninth" on June 7, Billboard.com can report.

"Ninth" is the former Bauhaus frontman's first solo outing since "Unshattered" in 2004 and his first release under a new deal with the Nettwerk Music Group. It comes in the wake of what the British-born singer said was Bauhaus' final dissolution after the release of 2008's "Go Away White," as well as his 2009 collaborations with Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails

It also follows Murphy's quick appearance as The Cold One last year in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," as well as his Dirty Dirt tour. Murphy will preview his "Ninth" material with a U.S. tour that begins March 7 in Seattle and includes a March 17 appearance at SXSW before wrapping up April 10 in Chicago.

Murphy, who made his solo debut with "Should the World Fail to Fall Apart" in 1986, has thus far kept quiet about "Ninth." The most recent posting on his web site is a Jan. 4 notice about the death of Japan's Mick Karns, who was Murphy's partner in the group Dali's Car. The two were reportedly working on a new Dali's Car project to follow "Ninth;" it's unknown how far along they were and what will become of the work already done.
