The album, self-released earlier this summer, will be given a major label touch-up, courtesy of mixer Tom Lord-Alge (Blink-182, Marilyn Manson). The set's first single, "Beautiful," will be serviced to radio in early September, but a couple of Southern stations have already been spinning the track, along with album cut "Coke."
For winning the show, Flickerstick received $50,000 in cash, $100,000 worth of equipment, and a music video for "Smile." The clip is in the top-15 of VH1's rotation.
Flickerstick will begin a U.S. tour, focusing on colleges, Aug. 24 in Denton, Texas. Finalized dates will be announces shortly. To date, the band, which formed while attending the University of North Texas in the mid-'90s, has sold more than 9,000 copies of its debut album, according to SoundScan.
