Band Of Horses Eyeing New Label For Third Album

by David J. Prince, N.Y.  |   March 04, 2010 2:02 EST

Band Of Horses has set a May 18 release date for its third album, "Infinite Arms," but Billboard.com can confirm that the project will not be released by Sub Pop, which put out the first two Band Of Horses albums.

Instead, sources say the band is being actively courted by several major labels to release "Infinite Arms," which was produced by the band and Northwest music scene veteran Phil Ek (Built To Spill, Fleet Foxes).

It's the follow-up to 2007's "Cease to Begin," which debuted at a career-best No. 35 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 179,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The new album features the debut of touring members Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. A track list has yet to be released, but Band Of Horses has road-tested a host of new songs over the past year, including "Older," "Keyhole" and "Get Some."

The group will play material from "Infinite Arms" on tour this spring, beginning March 15 in Boulder, Colo. Several appearances at South by Southwest in Austin will follow that week. A short European tour is set for early April, as are spring festival appearances at Jazzfest in New Orleans and Sasquatch in George, Wash.
