Bambino CD Inaugurating Roc La Familia

Reggaeton artist Hector "El Father" Bambino's debut album will be the first release on Def Jam's new world music imprint Roc La Familia. Due June 20, "Roc La Familia & Hector Bambino 'El Father' Present Los Rompe Discotekas" features reggaeton artists Don Omar, Wisin Y Yandel and Alexis Y Fido, as well as rappers Fat Joe, Memphis Bleek and Freeway, among others.

The first single from the set will be "Here We Go Yo." Roc La Familia was formed by Def Jam in July 2005 as an avenue for genres such as reggae, reggaeton, calypso and West Indian.

"World music has evolved, it now blends contemporary styles such as hip-hop, rock and electronica with traditional and roots music," says Def Jam president Jay-Z. "Hector blends genres and brings real stories and messages to the listener. His huge following and his passion for the music made us immediately realize that this is the right first release for Roc La Familia."

The Puerto Rico-born Bambino began his career in the mid-'90s as one-half of the Latin rap duo Hector & Tito. In 2002, the pair released "A La Reconquista" (VI Music) and won a 2003 Billboard Latin Music Award for Latin rap album of the year. Bambino won this year for reggaeton song of the year, for his appearance on Baby Ranks' "Mayor Que Yo," also featuring Daddy Yankee, Tonny Tun Tun and Wisin Y Yandel.
