Backstreet Boy Carter Hits Solo Road

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, whose Jive solo debut "Now or Never" was released last fall, will be hitting the road in February for his first solo performance outing. Beginning Feb. 17 in Pittston, Pa., Carter and his band will play 17 North American dates through a March 9 engagement in San Francisco.

The mostly theater and ballroom-sized venues will be a change of pace from the Backstreet Boys' usual arena tours for Carter, who has reassured fans that the Backstreet Boys are not over -- the group is working on a new album, to which he will be contributing. Carter has also recently tested his acting chops in the NBC show "American Dreams," playing the frontman of the band Jay & the Americans.

"Now or Never" debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 in November and has sold 202,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. First single "Help Me" grazed Billboard's Top 40 Mainstream chart at No. 36 prior to the album's release.
