Austin, Jones Set For 'HIP' Jazz Benefits

Comments

The hip sounds of Patti Austin, Elvin Jones, Dianne Reeves, and Ramsey Lewis will be the focal point of a slate of New York benefit concerts. Sponsored by the HIP Health Plan of New York, the HIP Jazz Concert Series will present the artists across two shows March 4-5 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.

The March 4 show will feature Patti Austin's "BeboperElla," her tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, and Elvin Jones' Jazz Machine. The next night's offering will feature Reeves and the Ramsey Lewis Trio. Tickets are available via Center Charge (212-721-6500) and the venue's box office.

Proceeds the series will benefit the Jazz Foundation of America's Jazz Musicians' Emergency Fund and the jazz program at the New School University. The event is co-sponsored by Centralized Laboratories Services, Pfizer, Vytra Health Plans, and Amalgamated Bank.
