Flo Rida
Two big moves on the Billboard Hot 100 give Atlantic Records ownership of the top two positions. As reported yesterday, a 58-1 rush puts "Right Round" by Flo Rida on top, while a 9-2 jump pushes "Dead and Gone" by T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake into second place.
It's the third time in chart history that Atlantic has locked up Nos. 1 and 2 with two different artists. The Young Rascals' "Groovin'" and Aretha Franklin's "Respect" were the top two songs in the country for a six-week period beginning May 20, 1967. Debbie Gibson's "Lost in Your Eyes" and Mike + the Mechanics' "The Living Years" filled the top two slots for two weeks beginning March 11, 1989.
Meanwhile, T.I. was Nos. 1 and 2 in October and November of 2008 with "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life."
Last week's Hot 100 chart-topper, Eminem's "Crack a Bottle" featuring 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, slips to No. 3. Kanye West's "Heartless" is down 2-4, and Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" drops 3-5. All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell" and Taylor Swift's "Love Story" hold at Nos. 6 and 7.
Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" falls 4-8, Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" slips 5-9. Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" inches up 12-10 to round out the top tier.
Coldplay's "Lost!" re-enters the chart at No. 40, spurred by digital sales of the live version performed on the Grammys with Jay-Z. The broadcasted medley, along with song of the year winner "Viva La Vida," accounted for 68% of the song's 61,000 total downloads. 50 Cent's "I Get It In" is the chart's top debut at No. 53.
On Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" featuring T-Pain is No. 1 or a second week. Chrisette Michele has the top debut at No. 74 with "Epiphany," which will appear on her second Def Jam album, due March 31.
Kenny Chesney nets his 16th career No. 1 on Hot Country Songs as "Down the Road" with Mac McAnally moves 2-1. Sugarland's "It Happens" is the top debut at No. 40.
On Billboard's rock charts, Shinedown's "Second Chance" rebounds 2-1 on the Modern Rock tally, and begins a third week at No. 1 on Mainstream Rock.
