Nebraska-based new wave revival act the Faint will release a remixed version of its critically lauded 2001 album, "Danse Macabre," March 25 via Astralwerks. The newly reworked disc, originally released by Saddle Creek, will consist of remixes from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Les Rythmes Digitales (LRD), and Tommy Sunshine, among others.
"We find that we gain a new understanding about how our music is interpreted by having other artists reconstruct it and reinterpret it, drawing from their unique musical background and taste," says Faint bassist Joel Peterson in a statement. The remix disc, which Astralwerks promises "will span the breadth of electronic and dance music" also plans to feature revised takes on "Danse Macabre" cuts by Jagz Kooner, Ursula 1000, Medicine, and Mojolators.
"The Faint [is] unquestionably one of America's best bands and we have had a tremendous reaction from fellow artists that are anxious to have a go at their tracks," Astralwerks GM Errol Kolosine said. "We couldn't be more excited to be working with [the group], especially in a capacity where our experience and expertise can be of such great use in producing and promoting this new album."
Despite the new Astralwerks partnership, the Faint "have no plans to leave Saddle Creek," the band wrote on its official Web site. As for a new studio album, Peterson told Billboard.com last month, "we don't really have any studio plans for the near future."
However, in support of the remix disc, the group is plotting a spring U.S. tour that, according to the site, "will involve new multimedia lighting ideas." At deadline, only one date on the trek could be confirmed -- an April 27 performance at La Zona Rosa in Austin, Texas.
