Arcade Fire scored their first U.K. No. 1 album with their third set "The Suburbs" (Mercury/Universal). Ne-Yo's "Beautiful Monster" (Def Jam/Universal) debuted at No. 1 on the Official Charts Company's singles listing.

"The Suburbs" thus goes one better than its predecessor, 2007's "Neon Bible," which debuted and peaked at No. 2. Arcade Fire first made the U.K. album chart in 2005, when "Funeral" reached No. 33. The new album, from which the single "We Used To Wait" debuted at No. 75 on the new Aug. 8 chart, removed Eminem's "Recovery" (Interscope/Universal) from No. 1, where it had been for the last three weeks (and five of the last six).

"The Suburbs" moved 61,000 copies according to the OCC - actually slightly less than the 66,000 first week sales of "Neon Bible."

Arcade Fire today (Aug. 9) confirmed details of a Live Nation-promoted U.K. arena tour in December 2010, beginning at the O2 Arena on Dec. 1. There are further dates at Birmingham LG Arena, Cardiff Arena, Manchester Central and Glasgow SECC.

There were no other newcomers in the top ten, or indeed the top 30 of the album chart. Michael Bublé's "Crazy Love" (Reprise/Warner Music) and Paolo Nutini's "Sunny Side Up" (Atlantic/Warner Music) both climbed again, 10-7 and 11-8 respectively. "Jason Derulo" (Beluga Heights/Warner Bros./Warner Music) improved 15-10, as his single "What If" climbed 15-12, and Paloma Faith's debut set "Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful?" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) jumped back 41-15 in its 39th week. The highest new entry was dance act Chicane's "Giants" (Modena) at No. 35.

Ne-Yo is enjoying his third U.K. No. 1 single, after "So Sick" (2006) and 2008's "Closer." The OCC says he has now sold more than 2 million singles in the territory. "Beautiful Monster" stayed ahead of Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" (Atlantic/Warner Music), featuring David Guetta, which rose 5-2. Last week's new entry at No. 1, The Wanted's "All Time Low" (Geffen/Universal), fell to No. 5.

The only other top 20 singles debutant was the Hoosiers' "Choices" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) at No. 11. It's the lead track from "The Illusion of Safety," out next Monday (Aug. 16) as the follow-up to the 2007 chart-topper "The Trick To Life," which has sold 600,000 copies, according to Sony.

On Billboard's pan-European charts, Eminem's "Recovery" (Interscope/Universal) is in a fifth aggregate week atop European Albums, while "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) by Shakira featuring Freshlyground leads European Hot 100 Singles for a second week.
