Anastasio Throws Fans An Instrumental 'Curve'

Trey Anastasio takes an instrumental detour on his next album, "The Horseshoe Curve," due July 24 via his own Rubber Jungle label. The eight-track set includes two songs (the title cut and "The 5th Round") captured during live performances.

The rest of the set was recorded at Anastasio's the Barn studio in Vermont and at Trout Recording in Brooklyn, N.Y., with producer Bryce Goggin. Anastasio's most recent prior instrumental release was 2004's "Seis De Mayo."

Fans who pre-order "The Horseshoe Curve" through Anastasio's Web site will receive the five-song live "The Lucius Beebe" EP, which boasts guest appearances by ex-Phish drummer Jon Fishman, John Medeski and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra.

A portion of the proceeds from the new album will benefit Anastasio's non-profit Seven Below Arts Initiative. "The Horseshoe Curve" is the artist's first release since avoiding jail on felony drug charges in April.

Here is the track list for "The Horseshoe Curve":

"Sidewalks of San Francisco"
"Olivia"
"Burlap Sack & Pumps"
"The 5th Round"
"The Horseshoe Curve"
"Noodle Rave"
"Tube Top Tony"
"Porters Pyramids"
