'Anastacia' Gets North American Release Date

Comments

After becoming one of 2004's biggest international success stories, Anastacia's self-titled third album will at long last arrive in North America. "Anastacia" is slated for a June 7 release via Columbia.

When it was issued throughout Europe last spring via Daylight/Epic, the album debuted at No. 1 in many countries. It ended the year at No. 2 on the European Top 100 Albums chart, behind only Norah Jones' "Feels Like Home." Between April and September, "Anastacia" logged a total of 14 weeks in the top spot on that tally.

It was also was the fifth biggest selling album in the United Kingdom, where it has sold more than one million copies. The single "Left Outside Alone" was the seventh-best selling single in the territory last year.

Interestingly, Daylight/Epic serviced "Left Outside Alone" to U.S. radio stations last May. The track peaked at No. 5 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart and received some play on dance radio formats.

In the United States, Anastacia's previous albums, "Not That Kind" and "Freak of Nature," have sold 188,000 and 290,000 units, respectively, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Earlier this month, the Chicago-born/New York-raised Anastacia received a Brit Award nomination for international female solo artist. She will compete in the category against Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Kelis and Kylie Minogue.
