The set also includes a pair of David Bowie songs and a pair of T. Rex songs, as Cyclefly cover the former's "Five Years" and Otherstarpeople take on "Suffragette City," while former Haircut 100 frontman Nick Heyward covers the latter's "Hot Love," and Dramarama offer up "Raw Rump."
Two tracks from the Sweet -- the Donnas' rendition of "Wig Wam Bam," and Sugarfree's take on the title track, "Blockbuster" -- also make the collection.
Produced by legendary KROQ Los Angeles DJ Rodney Bingenheimer, "Blockbuster" will be released Jan. 30. On the same date, Conspiracy will also release "Greatest & Latest," a new studio album from Dee Dee Ramone. Produced by Chris Spedding (Tom Waits), the album includes new versions of the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Blitzkrieg Bop."
Conspiracy also plans to release in spring 2001 "Alarm Acoustic Standards," from former Alarm leader Mike Peters. The set includes acoustic renditions of 22 Alarm songs, recorded much in the way he has presented them during his recent solo tours. Peters is on tour in the U.S. with a band as Alarm 2000 through the end of the month, and plays Spokane, Wash., tonight (Oct. 20).
