Alkaholiks Calling It Quits After New CD

Comments

Rap collective tha Alkaholiks will release their fifth and final album, "Firewater," in February via Waxploitation and Koch Records. The set features production from group member E-Swift, Danger Mouse and Evidence of Dilated Peoples, among others.

Three tracks are available to stream online: "Get Into It" (via Alkaholiks.com), "Chaos" (via the group's Myspace.com page), and "The Flute Song (LaLaLa)" (via Waxploitation's Web site).

"Knowing 'Firewater' was going to be our last album made us very, very focused," says E-Swift. "We knew there was never going to be a second chance and we owed it to our fans to put everything we could into it, right here, right now."

Tha Alkaholiks, also known as tha Liks, have released four albums since 1993: "21 & Over," "Coast II Coast," "Likwidation," and 2001's "X.O. Experience." "We all have different goals and things we want to do as individuals," says J. Ro. "It's important for us to move forward and find new challenges."

The group, who has collaborated with such artists as Nas, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Ol' Dirty Bastard, King Tee, and Kurupt, says it will still work together on songs but will retire after a national tour next year.

Here is the track listing for "Firewater":
