The sounds of "Rocketjuice and the Moon" have hit the web.

The new project is a collaboration between a trio of musicians with extensive resumes: Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Atoms for Peace), Damon Albarn (Blur; Gorillaz; the Good, the Bad and the Queen) and Tony Allen (Fela Kuti; the Good, the Bad and the Queen).  The group played its debut gigs over the weekend during "Another Honest Jon's Chop Up," a series of European showcases by Albarn's label, Honest Jon's.

The new group posted seven mostly instrumental concert recordings from the Marseilles, France, installment to its YouTube page, including the eight-and-a-half minute synth workout "Here We Go," the funky "Red Skies" and the fusion-inspired "Put It Out."

A release date for the "Rocketjuice and the Moon" album has yet to be announced. Albarn explained the unwieldy name in an interview with the Irish Times: "Someone in Lagos did the sleeve design and that's the name he gave it, which suits me because trying to find a name for another band is always tricky."
