Adema Inks With Earache

Hard rock act Adema has signed a new deal with Earache following the dissolution of Arista, for which it issued two albums. The group's next release is due in January; it will be the follow-up to last August's "Unstable," which debuted at No. 43 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 112,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"Our new material is very diverse and Earache understands how to let a band do their thing and create music that comes from the heart," drummer Kris Kohls says in a statement. "We are making music from the heart again and it feels great."

Adema enjoyed its greatest success with its 2001 self-titled Arista debut, which has moved 670,000 copies. It spawned two top-15 hits on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart: "Giving In" and "The Way You Like It."

The group joins an Earache roster that also includes Morbid Angel, Deicide and Mortiis. "I hope our success will stand as an example to other bands out there that an artist-friendly indie label like Earache is a viable alternative to the major labels," says label head Al Dawson.

Adema has lined up three fall tour dates: Oct. 15 in Seattle, Oct. 19 in Anaheim, Calif., and Oct. 20 in West Hollywood, Calif.
