The BRIT Awards effect showed itself on the new U.K. sales charts Feb. 26 for a number of artists including Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Florence + The Machine and, more than anyone, Adele. "21" is back at the top of the album list for the 21st aggregate week after her double win at last Tuesday's (Feb. 21) ceremony, which helped push its British sales past four million, in the same week that its predecessor "19" moved beyond two million.

Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know," featuring Kimbra, returned to the singles summit as its sales neared 400,000, according to the Official Charts Company.

"21," which climbed back 3-1 on a sales upswing of 37%, has remained in the U.K. top ten throughout its entire 57-week chart span, and Adele's success also generated new sales for its singles "Rolling In The Deep" (up 39-28), "Someone Like You" (41-32) and "Set Fire To The Rain" (57-41). "19" climbed 9-7 as the OCC calculated that her six million tally represent an album sale every seven seconds since her chart debut.

Emeli Sandé, who took home the previously-announced Critics' Choice trophy at the BRITs, fell from the top to No. 2 with her debut album "Our Version of Events," as its new single "Next To You" held at No. 2. Double BRIT winner Sheeran's "+" climbed 7-3 as "Lego House," which he performed on the night, jumped back 37-17. He also climbed again with "Drunk" (17-11) and "The A Team" (65-33).

Lana Del Rey, named international breakthrough act, fell 2-4 with "Born To Die," but edged up 15-14 with the title track, as previous hit "Video Games" slid 19-20. Best British group Coldplay jumped 11-6 with "Mylo Xyloto," with the track "Paradise" up 24-23 and "Charlie Brown" new to the top 75 at No. 30.

Several more performers on BRITs night enjoyed sales surges. Florence & the Machine's "Ceremonials" leapt 23-9 and the previous "Lungs" 56-34, international male solo artist Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" 15-11, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' self-titled Sour Mash album 16-12, international female solo artist Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" and "Loud" 27-18 and 28-26 respectively, and outstanding contribition to music winners Blur's "Best Of" returned to the chart at No. 22. Their singles "Song 2" and "Parklife" re-charted at Nos. 64 and 74.

Elsewhere on the album chart, Band of Skulls made a No. 14 start with "Sweet Sour," "The Essential Whitney Houston" rebounded 40-17, Jay-Z & Kanye West's "Watch The Throne" climbed 61-25 and Simple Minds debuted at No. 28 with "X5." The BRITs also impacted the compilation chart, on which "BRIT Awards 2012 With Mastercard" climbed 4-1.

The Gotye single now spends a second week at No. 1 as the Belgian-Australian's "Making Mirrors" album slips 4-5. With Sandé at No. 2, last week's bestseller "Hot Right Now" by DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora fell to No. 3. "Wild Ones" by Flo Rida featuring Sia moved 5-4, trading places with David Guetta's "Titanium"," on which Sia also guests. There was also a double top ten appearance for Nicki Minaj, as her own "Starships" climbed 16-7 and Guetta's "Turn Me On," on which she cameos, improved 11-8. "Ass Back Home" by Gym Class Heroes featuring Neon Hitch debuted at No. 9.
