Adele Cancels U.S. Tour Dates to Rest 'Weak' Voice

Adele has canceled her upcoming U.S. tour due to a hemorrhage in her vocal chord, the singer and her label announced Tuesday. Set to kick off Oct. 7 in Atlantic City and positioned to cover much of the South and Texas over ten dates, the tour was sold out. In a statement, Columbia Records said Adele's doctors advised her to rest her voice for an "extended rest period."

The arrival of Adele's video for her No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Someone Like You" sparks a rally for the singer on the Social 50 chart, as she flies 6-2 this week.

Since premiering on Sept. 29, the somber ballad has pulled in 3.3 million Vevo plays, boasting her total week-to-week Vevo plays from 8.5 million to 11.7 million.

Billboard's Social 50 chart ranks the most active artists on the world's leading social networking sites -- YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike -- using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.

Across all monitored social networks and music outlets, Adele grew from 324,000 to 350,000 fans last week, increasing her total number of Facebook fans (6.3 million) and her Twitter followers (1.1 million).

In other news, Adele released an iPhone app on Sept. 12 that enables fans to stay up to date on her latest news, tour dates, tweets and blog posts.

With the continued success of LMFAO's video for the single "Sexy and I Know It" -- released to Vevo on Sept. 15 -- the duo rises 12-9 on the tally. The video currently sits at 18 million Vevo plays.

Week-to-week, their total plays are up by 3 million, jumping from 20 to 23 million plays. However, their total fans added fell slightly, moving from 187,000 to 186,000 fans. LMFAO's previous video for the single "Party Rock Anthem" has been viewed an impressive 229 million times.

Pink Floyd re-enters the tally thanks to the buzz surrounding the reissue of its 14 studio albums on Sept. 17, along with a lavish boxed set containing the collection.

On Sept. 30, a trailer about the campaign premiered, giving fans a walkthrough of what would be available in the box set. That video has since been viewed 48,000 times. Prior to this, drummer Nick Mason also shared and narrated a series of 22 videos on YouTube. When taken together, these videos helped raise their YouTube views from 107,000 to 184,000 week-to-week.

Rising 48-30 up the tally, Drake lands at No. 30, with the release of the video for his latest single "Headlines." Since debuting on Oct. 2, it's been viewed on YouTube 952,000 times, raising his profile views from 30,000 to 32,000 week-to-week. He also added 71,000 new Facebook fans and 100,000 Twitter followers.
