9th Wonder's 'Dream' Comes True With New Album

Comments

Little Brother rapper/producer 9th Wonder will release his solo debut, "Dream Merchant Vol. 2," Oct. 9 via Six Hole/Hall of Justus Records. Veterans like Saigon, Royce the 5'9", Mos Def, Memphis Bleek, Jean Grae, Camp Lo, Buckshot and Sean Price make guest appearances, as well as newcomers Skyzoo, Torae, Joe Scudda and Kidz In The Hall's Naledge.

The concept for the album, says Wonder, came to him years ago and was inspired by his Uncle Fred's music collection. "I remembered all of those records he had when I was a kid," he says. "I went downstairs and the first record I pulled out of the crate was Jerry Butler's 'Dream Merchant.' I thought the title was so fly that I decided to do a compilation album with me doing all the beats and cats I knew that rhymed."

9th Wonder has previously worked with artists such as Jay-Z, Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige and De La Soul.
