Video Q&A: Mat Kearney Plays It 'Closer'

"If 'Nothing Left To Lose' was me and a friend jumping into our truck and disappearing into the sunset, this is kind of the next chapter," singer/songwriter Mat Kearney says of his latest album, "City of Black & White."

Kearney recently stopped by the Billboard.com studios to perform lead single, "Closer To Love" and to talk about making the new album, which rose to No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and climbed all the way to No. 1 on the Christian Albums chart.

Watch Kearney discuss heartbreak in Nashville, how playing the new tunes live helped form them, and what "propels me" to keep making music. "There's a lot of desire in these songs to push through obstacles," he says. Video interview by Nadine Cheung.
