"Writing for this next record has been really tough for me," piano popstress Sara Bareilles says of facing down the task of following up her 2007 debut, "Little Voice," which spawned the inescapable top 5 hit "Love Song." In an on camera interview in Los Angeles recently, Bareilles expounded on learning to be proud of the success she found with "Love Song" and using her sophomore jitters as a source of inspiration.

"I went through kind of a big spot of writer's block at the end of last year," Bareills explains, "and being really panicked that I wasn't going to be able to fill the [new] record. The fear that I wasn't going to be able to do it, I drew a lot on that. It had a profound impact on this material."

The still-untitled new album, due later this year, has already found her working with production assistance from Roots drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, among others. The record will be, she says, "interesting, a little more quirky sounding for me." Then she smiles and laughs, "I'm going to need 75 people on stage with me: the clappers, the snappers, and the dancers."
