"We basically wanted to get Robert Randolph and the Family Band and a bunch of great artists together to help me capture a vision of 100 years of American roots music," pedal-steel player Randolph said of his upcoming album "We Walk This Road," when Billboard.com caught up with him on camera recently.
The album, due on June 22 on Warner Bros. Records and available for preorder here, features a who's who of blues and roots sounds, including Ben Harper, Leon Russell, and famed producer T-Bone Burnett. "We sat there and T-Bone was like, 'let's get back there to where you came from,'" Randolph remembers. "We took gospel, old blues and we really listened to a lot of stuff to basically create music that would be original [and] classic."
