Ray J is currently prepping the release of "Raydiation 2 (R2)," which will hit retailers in early 2011. The disc marks the singer's attempt to step away from the club and give his fans a taste of "true R&B," as demonstrated by his piano-driven first single, "Last Wish." The slow ballad made a 26% increase this week on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart, jumping from 73-62.

Ray J has also been making the television rounds, filming new episodes for the second season of VH1's "Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business," which premieres Dec. 5. While his big sis Brandy is competing on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," Ray J has also stepped in as a special correspondent on "Extra."

Despite his busy schedule, Ray J always has time to soak in a good sci-fi flick. The singer gave Billboard.com a rundown of his favorite science fiction movies for our "5 Things" series.

Independence Day Independence Day
Aliens are a consistent ingredient in all of Ray J's favorite sci-fi films, and "Independence Day" is full of them. "I like Will Smith because his acting is for real," Ray J says. "Plus he's always in a movie with a really big budget."
Men IN Black Men In Black
Continuing with the aliens-and-Will Smith combo, Ray J cites "Men in Black" as one of his favorites. The singer says that the action-comedy is one of his staples because Smith's character, J, cracks him up.
Splice Splice
"Splice," the 2010 flick about a genetic experiment gone awry, really impressed Ray J. "The concept was so crazy," he explains. "I'm still messed up by that movie."
Aliens vs. Predators Aliens vs. Predators
Ray J picked the action-packed "AVP: Aliens vs Predator" because of the tension between the two alien species fighting for world domination. "It was a little scary," Ray J joked, "like watching the Lakers Vs. Celtics."
The Thing The Thing
Finally, Ray J likes to "take it back a little" with the classic sci-fi film "The Thing." The R&B singer really appreciates the "natural graphics" of the alien thriller.
