Powerman 5000

Comments

Alright, let's see?September 13th. Six shows deep and things are going well. All three Iowa shows were a success, each more rockin' than the one before.

By the time we hit the Pearl Room in Mokena, IL, the band was in top form. Too bad the gear felt differently. Mid-way through a blazin' version of "Return to the City of the Dead," Terry's guitar rig decided to take a nap. Stage manager and guitar tech extraordinaire, Flemming, hustled to get it back and running just in time for Siggy's SVT to shut down on us. I stalled as best as I could while Flemming worked on that crisis... Thankfully it all worked out in the end and the crowd seemed to leave happy.

Onto Maplewood, Minnesota... Has anyone out there ever heard of Maplewood, MN? Well, neither had I but let me say that the show at the Rock may have topped them all so far. Madness and chaos ruled the night and no equipment problems... Hallelujah! We even dusted off a song called "Car Crash" from our first album, for a fan in the front who refused to leave me alone. Apparently he had driven from Seattle in hopes of hearing that song, so we gave it to him. Hope you're happy! Now stop yelling at me in between songs!

DAY OFF

Off to the mall for a day of fun and relaxation... I was flattered that the girls at Spencer Gift's knew who we were. One of them said that she had drawn a picture of me for her art class. Me and Adrian (who she referred to as AJ) took pictures with them and then bought a fart machine. It doesn't get more fun than annoying shoppers with fart sounds for hours and hours, and hours...

Later that night we started drinking at the ever-exclusive TGI-Friday's where the bartender chick was kind enough to serve us free drinks all night. She amazed us with her bar tricks involving olives and straws. I also learned how to use a lighter to suck wine off of a plate, and get it back into the glass.

After that we hung out with the locals back at the club. Some dude who looked like a member of the trench-coat mafia offered to buy us drinks but never did. Later I saw him screeching out a version of Nine Inch Nails on the karaoke stage. This was only to be topped by Johnny's version of Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted Snake." He was accompanied on stage by three sisters from Minnesota. God Bless America. Especially Maplewood.
Off to Fargo for show number six.

... Did Fargo rock? You betcha!
