Kate Nash

Kate Nash, Title TBD (Fiction/Polydor)
Release Date: April 12, 2010 (U.K. release)

"Today is my official last day in the studio," Kate Nash posted on MySpace Dec. 15, 2009. The follow-up to her quirky 2007 piano-pop debut, "Made of Bricks," is set to drop April 12 in the United Kingdom, and Fiction Records managing director Jim Chancellor anticipates Interscope will release it in the United States around the same time. Recorded at RAK Studios in London with former Suede guitarist and Duffy collaborator Bernard Butler producing, Chancellor describes it as "bigger and better" than its predecessor. The Supremes-inspired album, he says, features "vintage guitar sounds, strings and horns used in a brilliantly understated manner." Nash's songs about everyday life and love helped propel the debut to 544,000 U.K. sales, according to the Official Charts Co., plus a further 168,000 in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Chancellor identifies future singles as "The Doo Wah Song," "Later On," "Kiss That Girl" and "You'll Never Listen to Me." There are also "dark corners" on the record such as "You Used to Be So Far Away" and "sweeping tunes" like "Share This Guilt." That latter track is a magnificent piece of urban poetry," Chancellor says. "Totally epic."
