A motorcycle-riding, cigar-smoking Jewel isn't the first image that comes to mind when fans think her, but the pop-rock songstress tells Billboard.com that her latest album gives equal times to both sides of her personality. Ahead of today's (June 8) release of "Sweet and Wild," Jewel stopped by Billboard HQ to perform two songs and talk about the new music.

"A song like 'Fading' is sort of a wild song and a song like 'Satisfied' is more poetic," she explained. Exploring a backlog of over 500 unrecorded tracks with the help of fans, Jewel went for an eclectic mix of country, pop and folksier tunes on "Sweet and Wild." "They'd circulate bootlegs of mine they call 'Angel Food' and so they have all these unrecorded songs from live shows over the last 15 years," says Jewel of her fans on Twitter.

Jewel's sixth album, "Perfectly Clear" reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart and was her first foray into country music. Her 2009, "Lullaby" was a mix of self-penned tracks and original takes on classic nursery rhymes that peaked at No. 1 on the Top Kid Audio chart.
